With exterior design cues from Malibu sedan and Traverse crossover, Chevy has come up with Equinox, a sporty crossover dedicated to big families who enjoy a compact car.

The Equinox is motivated by option of two engines: a 2.4L Ecotec direct injected I-4 engine estimated at 182 hp and 30 mpg highway and a 3.0L DOHC direct injected V-6 engine estimated at 255 hp and 25 mpg highway, both matted to a 6-speed transmission. Other features include XM satellite radio, an iPod input jack, OnStar roadside assistance, six standard air bags: dual frontal air bags; head curtain side air bags and pelvic/thorax seat-mounted side air bags, rear-vision camera system, with display in the rearview mirror or in the navigation screen or 19-inch alloy shoes.

The only impressive features of this outstanding new crossover are the Inspector-Gadget-like wireless toys. The rest of the car is just..wearying.
