2012 Ford Focus wagon for Geneva

2012 focus wagon front

Joining the reveals announced for Geneva is Ford, with 2012 Focus wagon. With this debut , Ford has reached the halfway point in the roll-out of its new C-segment platform. When Ford first announced the new C-Max and Grand C-Max at the Frankfurt Motor Show last fall, it said the C platform would eventually spawn at least 10 different variants. The two MPVs were joined by the four- and five-door Focus at the Detroit Auto Show in January. The new station wagon is number five and we expect it to be joined by a three-door hatch and coupe-convertible in the coming months. Ford also revealed that a small SUV will join the C-segment lineup soon. (more…)

Rolls Royce Ghost tuned by Mansory

rolls royce ghost tuning by Mansory

Could the ultimate representative of luxury miss from an auto show? Of course not! So, here’s Rolls Royce with an additional tuning package by Mansory. Not that the Ghost would need any tuning, but still. Many times I’ve been impressed by tuning kits and many times they actually look good on cars, but it seems the Rolls is just not tuning material. Wald International also showed a tuning programme for it and that didn’t look good, either. Which confirms my opinion that this luxury sedan doesn’t lend to tuning.

For the engine Mansory used enlarged bi-turbo chargers, an ECU optimization, sports manifold and the sports catalysers and they obtained an impressive 720 hp and 780 NM of torque. As a result the sprint from 0 to 60 mph is made in 4,4 seconds and top speed goes up to an impressive 192 mph.

The exterior is painted in a combination of Gold and Blue, a new front skirt, a modified radiator grill insert and 22″ wheels. The interior combines delicate leather with diamond-quilted ornaments.

Again, looking at the pics, I find it kitschy. All that gold and the oversized grille and front skirt….Mneaaaah!

If you’re still interested, you can find all the details in the press release after the jump.

Updated Nissan Pathfinder for Geneva

Updated Nissan Pathfinder

Nissan has officially announced the presence of an updated Pathfinder at Geneva Auto Show.

The new SUV features a revised front fascia complete with a new hood, redesigned grille, updated headlights and new bumper. V6-powered models receive new badging as well as side molding. New-design 16, 17 and 18-inch wheels are also part of the Pathfinder redesign. Overall, the new Pathfinder grows 80mm.

The Pathfinder’s interior has also been given the once over, focusing heavily on improved quality and more content. The new Pathfinder features all-new door trims, revised switchgear and dials, chrome accents and new seat fabrics. What items remain have been upgraded with higher-quality materials.

A Speed Limiter is now standard on all Pathfinder models, with ESP, rear-view camera and touch-screen navigation all optional.

The Euro-spec Pathfinder offers two diesel engine options, but we expect the Nissan SUV to soldier on in the U.S. with a standard 4.0L V6 and an optional 5.6L V8.

European Honda CR-Z at Geneva

Euro Honda CRZ Hybrid Coupe

Honda has prepared an European market CR-Z hybrid coupe which will have its premiere at next month’s Geneva International Motor Show. The biggest difference from the two-seater North American-spec CR-Z that was unveiled at the Detroit Show in January is that the European version features a 2+2 seating layout. (more…)

Impreza to impress at Geneva

Subaru Outback Sport

Subaru couldn’t just stay aside and watch the other carmakers show off their perfect 2010 rides. It’s just not Subaru style. So it announced its presence at Geneva Motor Show with the impressive Impreza XV crossover. Impressive by looks and by that divine horizontally-opposed boxer engine. Still, they are very discreet about pictures, but from what I’ve read in the press release, it’s gonna be sorta European-only Outback Sport. A unique grille, wheel arches and roof rails visually set the VX apart from standard Imprezas. What makes it apart from many other cars, however, is that “delicious” boxer engine which will motivate this Impreza crossover, with a choice of 2.0-liter boxer-fours, fueled by either gasoline or diesel. The Impreza VX goes on sale in Europe this summer.

And what else couldn’t miss from a motor show but a hybrid? Subaru introduces Hybrid Tourer Concept that we first saw at Tokyo last fall, as well as the plug-in Stella…still, I can’t take my mind off of the boxer engine.

Leaked images of Mitsubishi RVR interior

Mitsubishi RVR interior photo

A couple of weeks ago we presented Mitsubishi crossover RVR that will be revealed at Geneva next month, but there were no images of the interior. But as the internet is the land of all possibilities, leaked images are hovering these days across the virtual space.

Though very much awaited, the RVR does not come with very impressive modification compared to its predecessors as to the interior. Still, not many details have been yet revealed. We’re not sure even about the name as the RVR or ASX is likely to get a new nameplate for the North American market. (more…)

Auris to be revealed at Geneva

2010 Toyota Auris front

Toyota are pretty confidential when it comes to details for refreshed Auris and they are waiting for the offical presentation at Geneva Motor Show.

Available from this sping, 2010 Auris is the same comfortable, roomy and reliable hatch we got used to, with just few visible modifications: new fog light enclosures and lower front grille profile. There will be three petrol models and three diesels, accompanied by a HSD hybrid, for environment-considerate. This new line-up is created to give consumers the broadest range of powertrains in the C segment and will surely get a lot of proselytes.

You can’t teach an old pony new tricks

This hybrid-eco-electric frenzy has swallowed up every carmaker segments from hatchbacks to sports car to big trucks. I know it’s a trend, I know y’all try to save the planet, but leave the hell alone the legends! Electric Mustang? I bet my cell-phone would have better battery autonomy. So what should I do? Stop at every 100 miles and wait for 2-3 hours to recharge it? Hybrid Ferrari? Get real, people! You can’t teach an old dog pony new tricks! Muscle cars, sports cars…these automatically trigger the idea of gasoline-powered peppery engines, not environment-friendly-5-year-old girly cars. I could imagine Schumacher queing at a race to “fill up” his runner. (more…)
