Nissan Wants to Impress Hatchback Lovers with a…Crossover

Nissan tries to get Europeans’ mind off  boring hatchbacks with its 2011 Juke Crossover, with a design inspired by KIA Qazana concept. Despite the name the Juke is not a fake-out, it’ll go on sale in Europe and slot between the tiny Note and larger Qashqai crossover. Details about powertrain, cost and the like won’t be released until the Geneva Motor Show.

I have my doubts about the potential success of crossovers in this segment, but I’m glad Nissan realizes their biggest problem in Europe is their uninspiring design. Traditionally Nissans are just way too boring, which has hurt their sales tremendously. That, and the lack of economical yet powerful gas AND diesel engines in some models.
This ‘Juke’ however looks like a rejected Peugeot design. And that isn’t a compliment.
