French pick-up truck: Peugeot Hoggar

Peugeot Hoggar pick-up truck

Remember Proton’s Wira based Arena “pick-up truck”? I still see some traders putting the Arena to good use and it has carved out a niche for itself in Australia, where it’s called Jumbuck. Here’s one car with a similar concept from Peugeot, and it’s called the Hoggar.

The Hoggar is made for the South American market, and is based on the domestic 207. However, the 207 in question is not the same car that competes in Europe’s supermini class, but a 206 with a changed cabin and redesigned to look like the “big mouthed” 207. The Hoggar has a payload of about 742 kg.

Peugeot’s small pick-up will be launched in Brazil in May and will come with two engine options: a 1.4-litre and a 1.6-litre, both with flex-fuel technology. Flex-fuel cars can run on gasoline, ethanol or a mixture of the two. In Brazil, ethanol made mostly from sugar cane makes up 25% of the E25 fuel that’s sold in pumps. Unfortunately, not all countries benefit from biofuel.

Peugeot concept car for Geneva, simply called “5″

5 by peugeot concept car

Peugeot’s “5″ previews the upcoming 508 sedan and by the looks of it, it’s gona be a bit hit!  It seems that Peugeot finally got on the right path. This wise combination of smooth edges and flowing lines AWD baby is motivated by Hybrid 4 powertrain which means it has a 163hp 2.0 liter DHi FAP diesel engine and a 37hp electric motor.

The former is mounted on the front axle while the latter sits at the back. The powertrain is able to output 200hp collectively and its fuel consumption is figured at 74.3 miles to the gallon. The system also releases 99 grams of CO2 emissions per kilometer.

I like the exterior, I simply love the rims, but there’s one thing that caught my attention. At first I thought it was a reflected beam of light or a Photoshop mistake, but it isn’t. Flower-shaped head lights?! Soooo girlish and so not fitted!

Celebration for domination: Peugeot 207 S16

Peugeot 207 S16 limited edition

Little Peugeot 207 S2000 rally car has dominated the Intercontinental Rally Challenge for the past three years and recently, their driver, Kris Meeke has won 2009 IRC. This calls for a celebration. They drank three days and three nights, partied, bla bla ….but this is the perfect occasion to have a limited edition, guys! It’s a trend! Not to mention some nice figures in the sales reports. Thus, Special Edition 207 S16 was born, which is limited to 250 examples. (more…)

Sticking pedal mania affects Peugeot-Citroën

peugeot 107

At first, I thought Toyota’s recall over acceleration sticking pedal would affect the limited 8 models of Toyota, they would change the pedals, end of story. But apparently, the problem is much wider, affecting car makers you would never think could have any relationship with Toyota or their pedal issue. (more…)

Carmakers’ salvation: Asia

More and more European/American car manufacturers have enlarged their horizons towards the…horizon: they have found in Asia a pretty good market, willing to build and buy their cars at local price. And if they pay good money for a brand, why not take advantage and use the cheese to struggle out of the critic cash situation? The Roaring Lion Changes its Fur: Pug SR1

I’ve been a fierce critic of dull Peugeots for years and can’t remember the last time I got so revved up by a Pug. Excluding perhaps the soon-to-be-launched RCZ coupé. Probably this is why Peugeot has got back to the drawing table and came up with SR1 concept car: a BMW-Aston Martin-inspired roadster. The snout and body surfacing is remarkably like Aston’s triumvirate. And who’d have thought I’d be saying that about a humble Peugeot?

Peugeot 308 SW

The 308 SW by Peugeot was exposed for the first time at Geneva Auto Show this year. The new model offers more space and the good news for those who appreciated the 308 SW Concept is that the new 308 SW didn’t suffer much changes

Compared to the 308 hatch, the sport-wagon had its wheelbase stretched 100mm and the rear overhangs by an additional 124mm.Also we can notice that the new model can actually accommodate seven passengers, due to the two new seats.
