GM to change Vette’s look

The Chevrolet Corvette has held the title of “America’s sportscar” for more than six decades now, but General Motors is going global for the design of the next-generation two-seater. GM has requested Corvette design studies from 10 of its global design studios.

Although the Detroit automaker has yet to make a decision on the design direction of the next Vette, it is considering several global design studies. Ed Welburn, GM’s head of global design, offered the challenge to 10 of GM’s design studios last year. (more…)

2010 Chevy Aveo

2012 Chevrolet Aveo exterior

It took me some time and gazing to its front to actually make my eyes and brain understand it is NOT a Lancer. If it weren’t for that bowtie, it could easily pass as a Mitsu. But don’t be ashamed, GM, taking cues from the Lancer for your new Aveo is a good move! (Yes, I am a fanatic admirer of the Lancer Evo)

Judjing the pics, Chevy Aveo is getting the much-needed makeover both inside and outside. With a front end that stays true to the RS, along with a set of bulging fenders and an artfully carved swage line, the 2012 Aveo is a dramatic departure from the budget-conscious model roaming the streets today. Special Cruze for Singapore

chevrolet cruze ss singapore

I have good news for Singaporean costumers that want a C-segment car and appreciate the Cruze: Chevrolet prepared them “Cruze SS”, which is basically the same good-looking sedan, with additional bodykit, including a front, rear and side skirts, a rear spoiler, 17 inch alloy wheels with Falken tyres, and illuminated skuff plates.

Connoisseurs will immediately recognize the resamblance with Bumblebee given by the yellow stripes, which is not a bad thing if you come to think about it: both cars are Chevys. Although the stripes look better and more appropriate on the Transformers’ Camaro.

Noah’s Ark, Chevy style

Afraid the End of the World might caught you unprepared? If you have $30000 to spare, visit eBay and take that off of your mind. $30000 is not much at all if you think it may safe your life. The Chevy boat-truck  is a modified 1951 Chevrolet pickup, equipped with the necessary tuning kit to run both on road and water. All you need is to fill it up with beer and you can quietly and worriless watch NASCAR.

Limited Edition Corvette worths $200000 for Haiti

Mercy seems to have touched the hearts of many after the disaster in Haiti and people have started to donate both goods and money. However, few of them didn’t quite remain on empty pockets, as they auctioned at Barrett Jackson 2010 and went home with supercars like Shelby Cobra or the very special limited edition Corvette Z06. GM brought out the 427 Limited Edition Corvette Z06 worth more than $80,000 to Scottsdale and promised to donate the entire proceeds of the sale to the American Red Cross to help those who were affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti, entire proceeds that raise to the sum of $200000, offered by a very generous buyer.

I guess he now feels pretty good…both for having helped the victims of the earthquake and for having a limited edition Corvette Z06 parked in front of his house.

HorsePower, Haiti, Humanity

If the words that come to you mind when talking about Chrysler or Vette owners are selfish, bluffer or pampered, you should revise that. Cause after the disaster in Haiti, car companies have quicky directed their attention to the hapless by donations and future money is expected from the auctions scheduled.

Chrysler announced that it was donating a 300C and now General Motors is following up on its $100,000 cash donation with a special edition Corvette. (more…)

Camaro goes green!

Though a green muscle car is really a sapid picture, the roaring engine of a 5.0L gasoline beast still gives me chills down my spine. In fact, supercharged GASOLINE engines are what muscle cars are all about! Yet, Camaro goes green! Synergy Green…what’d you think? It’s a limited edition 2010 Camaro, painted in green, with Cyber Grey Rally Stripes running down the front and rear of the car.

Other exterior changes include a standard rear spoiler and special 19-inch wheels. The interior is also set up to remind you what you’re driving. The car also boasts Synergy Green trim covering the instrument panel and door inserts, along with matching green stitching on the black cloth seats, steering wheel, center console, and shift knob.

Aveo RS Concept to revive small Hatchbacks

What comes to your mind when you think of Chevrolet Aveo? If it’s the unfortunate styling and cheap feel, I have goos news: starting with next week’s 2010 Detroit Auto Show, Chevy is out to change the Aveo’s image into a product that we might actually desire.

When the Aveo first appeared in 2003, few people noticed (more…)

Camaro vs. Mustang

Two American red-blooded jittery beasts. But which one makes your palms sweat  and your hands chafe just by seeing its locks wave in the breeze, when doing 150 on the highway? And I’m not talking about power here, ’cause it takes more than a peppery engine to label a car. I’m talking about looks, comfort, interior materials and finish. (more…)

The Blue Devil – Upcoming Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

GM wants that the Corvette ZR1 to be a very powerful car and,at the same time,a fuel-efficient one.

The ZR1 has a 6.2 liter V-8 engine making 638 bhp.The supercharger has a displacement of 2.3 liters with a maximum boost pressure of 10.5 psi. This will be the most powerful engine that GM has ever made and will propel the “Blue Devil” to a top speed that is well over 320 km/h (200mph).

We don’t know exactly but it seems the car will go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds, due to the race-hardened six-speed gearbox.

The ZR1 will have 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires (developed specifically for the ZR1).
